Procedure
Introduction (5 minutes)
- Review previous lesson on counting by ones and tens.
- Introduce the topic of planting seeds, and explain the importance of plants in our lives.
- Show students different types of seeds, and ask them to identify them.
Activity 1: Planting Seeds (15 minutes)
- Give each student a pot or tray and soil.
- Instruct them to fill their pots with soil and make a small hole in the center.
- Let them plant the seed and cover it with soil.
- Show them how to water the soil and remind them to water the plant regularly.
- Discuss the importance of sunlight and air for the plant.
Activity 2: Measuring Plant Growth (20 minutes)
- Give each student a ruler or other non-standard units of measurement.
- Instruct them to measure the height of their plants every week and write down the measurements in their notebook.
- Discuss with the students how to compare the growth of different plants.
- Remind them to draw conclusions based on their observations.
Conclusion (5 minutes)
- Review the importance of plants and the process of planting.
- Ask the students to share their observations and conclusions.
- Encourage the students to continue taking care of their plants at home.
Assessment
- Assess students' ability to count by ones and tens during the introduction.
- Assess students' ability to follow the steps in planting seeds during Activity 1.
- Assess students' ability to measure and compare the growth of different plants during Activity 2.
- Assess students' ability to draw conclusions based on their observations during the Conclusion.
Extension
- Ask the students to research the different types of plants that grow in their local area.
- Instruct them to make a poster or presentation about the plant they found and why it is important.
