Objectives

Warm-Up (5 minutes)
Walk around the perimeter of the gym
Jog in place for 1 minute
Jumping jacks for 1 minute
Stretching exercises to loosen up muscles
Introduction (5 minutes)
Explain to the students that they will be playing various athletics games today
Discuss the importance of following rules and being a good sport
Athletics Activities (30 minutes)
Obstacle Course (10 minutes)
Set up a course with cones and hurdles
Have students race through the course and time them using the stopwatch
Encourage them to try to beat their previous time
Jump Rope Competition (10 minutes)
Split students into pairs
Each pair has one jumping rope
They jump for one minute, then switch and the other partner jumps
The team with the most jumps wins
Ball Toss Relay (10 minutes)
Split students into teams
Each team has a ball
One person from each team at a time runs to the other end of the gym, tosses the ball to their teammate, and runs back to tag the next person in line
The first team to have all members complete the relay wins
Cool Down (5 minutes)
Jog in place for 1 minute
Stretching exercises to cool down muscles
Conclusion (5 minutes)
Congratulate the students on their hard work and good sportsmanship
Emphasize the importance of staying active and healthy
Remind them to practice these skills at home or outside of school
Assessment
Observe students during activities to assess their level of effort and skill
Use stopwatch and ball toss relay to determine winners of competitions
Ask students about their favorite part of the lesson and what they learned.
